![]() The colors also play a huge part in dressing up in a Mori Kei style. Layering also helps build that natural volume that will hide the natural figure. This means all of their clothing pieces are at least a size or two larger than their frame and they would not be seen with anything body-hugging. Wearing oversized sweaters under long dresses or warming up with scarves and shawls underneath a layer of sweaters and skirts.Īnother thing to note about this particular style is that Mori Girls are not body-conscious girls. Usually, these pieces are incorporated with textures such as laces, knits, and cotton. Main pieces of clothing are dresses and skirts of varying lengths, but blouses and sweaters are also commonly seen. Even though the guidelines that Choco has created are not set in stone, it still serves as a general idea of what to wear and how to look like one. If you are inspired by this particular fashion style, then here we are! A guide on how to dress like a Mori Girl. ![]() The fashion style was globally well-loved and wholesomely embraced by nature-enthusiasts fashionistas all around the world and popularity-wise, can even rival with other famous styles such as Lolitas, Dolly Kei, and Decora. The anime Honey and Clover was also influenced and had its character wear Mori Kei styled-clothes. It has even reached television fame with artists, such as PoPoyans, creating Mori kei-inspired music, and wearing the style. The fame led to the appearance and creation of numerous Mori Kei magazines and brands. Despite that, it gave a general knowledge of what the fashion style was all about.īy 2009, the fashion style has reached its peak and the Mori Girl community has 35,000 members. However, the said guidelines were really loose, and not even the authentic and original Mori Girls followed them. She was inspired to trend the fashion when her friend commented on one of her outfits, saying, “You look like you are in a forest.”Įven though the said fashion was seen roaming the streets of Harajuku, though very rarely, it was Choco who really gifted its name and made a set of guidelines for the style. Mori kei started when in 2006, in a Japanese social networking site called Mixi (similar to Facebook), a community called Mori Girl was created by Choco, the community’s manager. An individual who dresses in mori kei is described as a free-spirited person with an aura of peace around them. The goal of this trend is natural and earthy, which is mostly achievable by layering two or three items to get that soft silhouette effect. The overall concept of this style is very fitting for its name, it is to represent individuals who look like they are living in the forest. ![]() Mori Kei - in English, forest style - is a vintage Japanese fashion style that centers around the appearance of forest-dwellers. This specific fashion style in Japan has a dedicated name and was a famous and whimsical subculture. That is in the case of other countries but not in Japan. However, as my memory serves me correctly, this is a common concept for runway segments and even magazine photoshoots. It is unusual to see this in the casual streets, especially in the West. It will look completely out of place and just doesn’t suit that folklore and billowy mood we are going for. Within a deep forest, surrounded by tall willow trees and tiny wood creatures, walking and hopping about, there is a wooden cabin and there lives a girl.įashion-wise, you shouldn’t expect anything modern at all. ![]() I haven’t seen this fashion as much as I would like to, which is a bit disappointing because as someone who loves anything that has a semblance to fairytales and folklore, it really is a shame that this particular fashion trend is not as popular as it was a few years ago.Īnd just to give you a bit of a scene, just imagine. At first glance, you would absolutely know this style and even if you don’t know the exact term, you can immediately tell what is the concept the person is going for. As well as the polymer parts, users will need some screws, pins, and three ball bearings. With symmetry in mind, the hours are kept on the indicator on the left while the minutes are kept on the indicator on the right.Įxplaining the motivation behind the work, Mechanistic adds, “I’m not a watchmaker, but as a mechanical engineer who is both a watch nerd and a 3D printing geek, I was greatly inspired by Christoph Laimer and Adam Wrigly‘s efforts in creating a fully functional 3D printed clock and triple-axis tourbillon respectively.”ĭesigned to be printed in PLA and PETG, the Tourbillon Mechanica Tri-Axial should have a total print time of around 140 hours. It does this using a very cleverly-assembled set of bevel gears and a wind-up spring, meaning there are no electronics or batteries involved. So how does it work? The design is centered around a triple-axis tourbillon that rotates the escapement mechanism – the time-keeping mechanism – about three different axes to cancel out the effects of positional variation on the time regulation. With Mechanistic’s Tourbillon Mechanica Tri-Axial, you can 3D print your own for less than $100. If you’re in the market for one, expect to shell out something in the range of $200,000 – $500,000. These exclusive watches are equal parts engineering and art, and are very hard to come by in the real world. ![]() The triple-axis tourbillon is widely regarded as one of watchmaking’s greatest technical challenges. It is extremely important that your stiles are square as the functionality and aesthetics of your door will be compromised if they are not. My door is very small and so I opted for 4 inch wide stiles. Most styles are 4-5 1/2 inches (10-14cm) wide, but the width of your stiles depends upon the style of your door. I started with the stiles as I view them as the most important. Once materials are selected it is time to build the components of your door. For my door, I used 1/2 (1.27cm) inch MDF for the panels. Plywood and MDF are great options for panels as they are stable and easy to come by. If you are doing raised panels or using solid wood for the panels, you must be aware of wood movement and take precautions or else your door could crack with the changing of the seasons. 2x4's) is not dried quite as much as furniture grade wood and because of that those boards are more prone to warping which is the last thing that you want for your door. ![]() Most dimensional lumber from the hardware store (e.g. I would avoid using pine lumber unless it is very dry and stable. My door is painted and so I have selected a cheaper option (maple), but poplar or another cheap hardwood would do just as fine too. ![]() Wood is strong, but depending upon the species and how it is treated it can also warp and cause door problems.Īny furniture grade hardwood would be an excellent choice. For example, plywoods and composite boards like medium density fiberboard (MDF) are very stable, but they are not as strong as wood and can fall apart over time in a way that solid wood will not. The two things that need to be balanced in selecting materials for a door is strength and stability. When making doors yourself the materials you select can have a big difference on the quality and the functionality of the door that you build. The downside to them is that they look cheap, they are not very strong (anyone with a teenager who likes to punch things knows that) and don’t always have the best insulation (as they are generally hollow). The benefit of these doors is that they are cheap, stable and easy to paint. If you want to know more about my door measurements, check out my website at Most interior doors today are made from a material called Masonite, which is a kind of wood fiberboard that is steam cooked and pressure molded onto a thin wood frame to create a slab door that has an appearance of a door with rails stiles and panels. The door that I am building is in a space that is much smaller (only about 20 inches or 50cm) which is why I decided to build one. Closet doors can be much smaller, but the smallest pre-fabricated door that most stores sell is 24". Standard door widths can vary from 30" to 32" to 36". Interior doors are generally 80 inches tall and 1 3/8 inches thick (exterior doors are generally thicker). Rails and stiles are generally made out of the same materials, but panels can vary and even include glass or screens. The rails connect the two stiles together at a few points and the panels fill in the gaps. It is very important that the stiles be stable and straight. The stiles provide the main structure of the door and take the brunt of the wear. There are all different types of door ranging from slab doors to barn doors, but the most basic doors generally consist of three major parts. If the bolt or belt break during operation, the majority of aftermarket camshafts will cause the pistons to hit the valves, bending or breaking them and requiring a cylinder head overhaul. Once this happens the timing belt itself can fail, or the bolt can fail as the movement of the engine can cause the bolt to break. While there are many well constructed aftermarket unbushed steel tensioners on the market, when used for a long service interval - as you would find on a street car or road race vehicle, over time the lubricant used during installation will be displaced and the bolt can fuse to the tensioner.
